my approach
I value a creative approach to therapy, and in our sessions, you can expect movement, meditation, breath-work, metaphor, silliness, play, and music. I believe that when we are able to embody our emotional expression, we are closer to our truth.
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist-Associate, I do not just work with married folks and families. Rather, this licensure is indicative of the way that I view the world: as a network of systems. I do not believe that you (or your symptoms!) exist in isolation. You are impacted by the greater world around you – your family, your work environment, your spiritual community, and your friends are all important aspects of your identity. These aspects create systems that you engage with daily, and these systems are responsible for many of your behaviors, thoughts, and feelings. As a systemic therapist, these systems are of incredible value to me. I want to know about the greater picture of your life.
I work with individuals, relationships of all structures, and families.
I’m proud to be a poly/kink/LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist.

therapy for lgbtqia+ clients
I know what coming out feels like. Not because I’ve read about it, but because I’ve done it. Learning to celebrate your queerness can feel like a mourning of your previous identity. In order to be who you are, you must take inventory of who you’ve been. It is scary to do that alone. Whether you need support in the process of coming out, hoping to foster intimacy in a queer relationship, considering polyamory, or hoping to connect more authentically with a family member or loved one, I would be honored to be your advocate.
If you are a member of the transgender community (or someone who loves a member of the transgender community!), please know that you are welcome here. My primary area of clinical research is in the ways that therapy can support transition and the spectrum of gender. I am well-versed in gender affirming care. Further, if you need a therapist’s note in order to begin gender affirming services, please contact me. I am happy to provide this for you at no cost.
couples therapy
It is brave and beautiful to spend an hour each week discussing your relationship. It is also incredibly vulnerable. In our work together, we will honor that vulnerability by committing to safety, thoughtful communication, and respect. Couples therapy is not about placing blame or about preventing conflict. You are humans! Instead, we will acknowledge typical ways that problems arise between you and the (helpful or not-so-helpful ways) that you’re coping with those problems. It is my job to help you learn about new ways to communicate, understand each other more fully, and develop language for the way that you feel. We will choose new ways to move forward together.
therapy for classical musicians
What would it feel like to enter a space where you didn’t need to prove yourself?
How beautifully could you bloom if you were able to release your fear of unworthiness?
Earning a music degree is a transformative experience of creating beauty to share with the world. In addition to the ways that it helps us grow, it can also train our brains to be anxious. The constant comparison, internal criticism, and isolation of musicianship can be a breeding ground for insecurity and distress. When I was in graduate school, I was hesitant to explore therapy because of a fear that my therapist wouldn’t understand the needs of my profession, or might encourage me to leave altogether.
I am passionate about being an advocate for mental healthcare in the field of classical music. As a yoga teacher and mindfulness instructor, I have given countless workshops to schools of music across the country. It would be my honor to work with you individually or to facilitate a mental health workshop for your school or studio.
emdr therapy
EMDR is a therapeutic technique that uses familiar movements in your body to aid you in the reprocessing of traumatic memories. These sessions use eye movements, buzzers held in your hands, or tapping of your hands to stimulate your body’s natural processing capabilities and lessen the daily impact of painful memories and sensations. EMDR is a technique that is highly researched, proven effective, and often recommended for those experiencing difficult triggers, PTSD symptoms, anxiety, and depression.
I am trained in EMDR and offer EMDR sessions at my talk-therapy rate. If you’re interested in exploring further, send an email and I’d love to chat with you about this modality!
cost
Therapy can be an incredibly expensive investment. I know that for many who desire care, cost can keep you from accessing the kind of therapy you desire. Please know that I am willing to work with you to find the most comfortable fit. Whether this means scheduling sessions every other week or connecting with another therapist altogether, I am happy to provide support to you.
My fee is $125/hour for a 55-minute session.
I do not currently accept insurance but am happy to provide a superbill to your insurance company.
If this fee feels uncomfortable to you right now, I additionally offer a small number of sliding-scale sessions. Send me an email for more information!
group therapy
Musicianship is hard, but therapy is expensive. And in the world of classical music, we already spend a lot of our time alone: practicing, taking lessons, staring blankly at the ceiling in an attempt to relax.
You deserve mental healthcare AND community.
You deserve a place to connect AND heal.
In this six-week program for musicians, we will learn coping skills to manage the stresses of the fall semester, explore breath-work and meditation, and connect with like-minded musicians across the state of Texas.
Unlike individual therapy, which often costs $150+ per session, group therapy is only $50/week. It requires a six-week commitment to begin and will be held in one-hour virtual sessions for six consecutive Saturdays at 10am CST.
Our first group begins on February 3, 2024, and I’d love to see you there!
